Our History
The Vuu family’s journey is one of resilience, determination, and a deep love for Vietnamese cuisine. After fleeing Vietnam as refugees during the aftermath of the war, they arrived in Canada seeking a fresh start. Settling first in Edmonton and later moving to Nanaimo, they worked tirelessly to build a new life.
In 1998, they opened Huong Lan Vietnamese Restaurant, a small, family-run eatery that quickly became a beloved staple in the community. The restaurant flourished with a commitment to authentic flavors and quality ingredients, earning multiple awards and a loyal following. As the next generation took the reins, the Vuu family carried forward his parents’ vision, expanding their reach while staying true to their roots.
With the opening of Lan Vietnamese Express in Parksville, the Vuu family continues their tradition of sharing authentic Vietnamese flavors with even more people, keeping their legacy alive for generations to come.
